1 1/4 cups chopped dates 1 cup hot water 3/4 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix chopped dates and hot water. Set aside to cool. Cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with date mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Spread batter into a greased 13 X 9 X 2 inch baking pan. Top with the remaining chocolate chips and the nuts. Bake for 35 minutes. Yield: 15 servings.
