2 Panera Bread Asiago Cheese bagels, cut in half lengthwise 1 pound lean ground beef, turkey or chicken 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/8 teaspoon chili powder (optional) 1 onion, finely chopped 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar 1/2 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Make bagel "shells" by scooping out the insides of the bagel halves with your fingers. Place the scooped out bread into a blender or food processor and chop to a fine crumb.
Over medium heat, crumble the ground meat into a frying pan. Add the garlic powder, chili powder and chopped onion. Cook thoroughly. Drain off fat. Reduce heat to low. Add the brown sugar, bagel crumbs and barbecue sauce. Stir well.
Fill the bagel shells with the meat mixture and bake on a foil-covered baking sheet until heated thoroughly, approximately 15 minutes.
