2 tbsp. shortening2 lbs. beef tips* 1 can beef consommé 1/3 c. Burgundy wine 2 tbsp. soy sauce 1/4 tsp. onion salt 1/4 tsp. garlic salt 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 c. water Hot, cooked rice * Note: "Beef Tips" are 1-inch cubed pieces of boneless top sirloin roast. Personally, I like to use Certified Angus "Beef for Stew", available at Reasor's.
Directions:
Brown beef tips in shortening. Stir in consommé, wine, soy sauce and salts. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
Blend cornstarch and water; stir gradually into meat mixture. Cook and stir until mixture thickens, about 2 minutes. Serve over hot cooked rice.
