Piedmont Girl Donates Birthday Presents To Local Hospital For 9th Birthday

Journey Benton delivered an estimated nearly 1,000 gifts to the Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany. For Journey’s 9th birthday, she posted to social media for people to send her 125 gifts as donations, not birthday presents.

Journey Benton delivered an estimated nearly 1,000 gifts to the Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany.

For Journey’s 9th birthday, she posted to social media for people to send her 125 gifts as donations, not birthday presents.

“I think they deserve love and happiness too,” said Journey Benton.

After a couple of posts, the Bentons said gifts just started showing up to their home, some even from anonymous donors. All the gifts surpassed Journey’s goal of 125.

“At first I panicked thinking 125 that is a lot,” said Bethany Benton, Journey’s mom. “But one by one they started showing up.”

Journey said this made her feel so happy, that she wants to do it again.

“It makes me happy when they are happy,” said Journey.
