Springtime is when librarians are normally getting out new books and setting up for book fairs, but because of COVID-19 book fairs have been canceled.
A librarian at Hoover Elementary created a book fair in a bag for each Hoover student.
"It's always fun to get a great new book. So, the kids should get excited this is showing them that we still care, and we miss them a lot," said Hoover Librarian Susan Foust.
Foust said since she wasn't able to set up a book fair in the library she used her own Scholastic Book fair points to purchase $2,700 worth of new books for each student. Cathy Koloff said her granddaughter Bailey received two new books Friday and the book fair baggies couldn't have come at a better time.
"We've been going up to the little library box at the pool and you know they've picked through that pretty well," said Koloff.
The baggies were filled with stickers, bookmarks, and games. Foust said there is something for each grade level. "We have books for pre-k, for four-year olds, all the way up to sixth grade, which is eleven and twelve-year olds."
