One Tulsa runner finds joy in the journey, and that journey includes a lot of miles.
"Running is one of the simplest sports known to man, but it’s one of the hardest things to do,” Kathy Bratton said.
Running 100 miles for most can be a true challenge, but when Bratton puts on her shoes, the suffering that endures is inspirational as she is knocking on the door of her 43rd 100-mile run.
"Pushing yourself thru everything that comes about to make sure you get to the finish line. It’s getting yourself thru all the suffering that’s what makes it worth wild to me,” Bratton said.
Competing and finishing 42 races has taken her all across the country.
"We have done Florida. We have done Illinois. We have done New Orleans, Iowa, Texas, Kansas, and Missouri,” Bratton said.
Kathy isn't slowing down any time soon, and her ultimate goal is to complete 100 races.
"That’s just a goal that isn't the stopping point the stopping point is when I'm dead hopefully I'm still going until the day I die,” Bratton said.
The drive to complete the 100 miles comes from within her. She's also motivated by others that share her passion.
"My idol is the every-day runner who gets out there we aren't going to win we are just going to go out there and do it just because we love to do it,” Bratton said.
