'Field of Heroes' Event Honors The Lives Of Oklahomans Lost In Combat

402 pairs of boots represent the number of Oklahoma who have died in combat since 9/11

The "Memorial Day Field of Heroes" honors fallen military men and women at Centennial Park near 11th and Peoria. Tulsa VFW Post 577 and Survivor Outreach Services held a dedication over the weekend. Organizers say they hope everyone remembers the true meaning of the holiday.

"Being able to bring a visual representation of what memorial day is all about means everything. Not only to us but to those families," said Shannon Lucas of Survivor Outreach Services

The display will be at Centennial Park through Memorial Day.
