Event Planned To Commemorate Juneteenth In Tulsa

A peaceful rally to celebrate Juneteenth in Tulsa is planned for the same day as President Trump's rally.

The Black Wall Street Times posted on its Facebook page that local organizers and community organizations are planning a last-minute local, but larger celebratory event to commemorate Juneteenth and the legacy of Greenwood and Black Wall Street.

The post goes on to discourage people from protesting near President Trump’s rally. 

Tulsans have been showing up in large numbers for demonstrations over the last couple of weeks.

News On 6 was there Thursday night as people gathered for a peaceful Black Lives Matter rally in downtown Tulsa.

The organizer said they worked with officers to set up the event and officers were there to make sure everyone stayed safe.
