Tulsa Public Schools is starting to accept applications for their virtual academy.

TPS says they wanted to have an option for students who didn't feel comfortable coming back to in-person learning. The program is open to any student who is in pre-k through 12th grade. They say students in the virtual academy will continue to be students in their current schools but will complete just their studies online.

TPS says they're still trying to work out the details but say they plan to offer everything from core studies to music and physical education virtually.

They also say students will always have the option of going back to in-person learning if their preference changes.

Many parents have also asked if their students will fall behind if they enroll in the virtual options, but TPS says students will have a flexible schedule that will include opportunities for acceleration and targeted tutoring and add that students may even be able to get ahead within this model.
