OHP Reports Fatal Collision In Blackwell

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to a crash on US Highway 177 just north of Blackwell in Kay County.

OHP reported one person involved in the one-vehicle crash has died. Billy Dean Burrow, a 71-year-old male from Hunnewell, Kansas, was pronounced dead on the scene from injuries in the collision.

The vehicle was northbound on US 177 and struck a concrete barrier. The driver was pinned for approximately 1 hour and 28 minutes before the Blackwell Fire Department could free him.

The passenger, Stanley Cook also of Hunnewell, Kansas, was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas and has been treated and released.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
