Promised PPE For Some Oklahoma Schools Running Behind

The Personal Protective Equipment shipment for Oklahoma schools is running late and may not get here in time for some districts' first day back at school.

The State Department of Education says it plans to send a message to superintendents Wednesday morning about picking up the equipment. Governor Kevin Stitt announced plans to send $10-million worth of gloves, masks, face shields, and gowns to Oklahoma public and charter schools by Friday August 14. Once that equipment arrives the state plans to send the items to local governments to distribute to school districts but some of those counties say they haven't received their equipment yet.

State emergency management officials say the vendor is shipping the PPE right now. While many schools have pushed back their start dates some are still starting before the end of the week including Bartlesville, Nowata and Glenpool.
