Tulsa firefighters went door-to-door on Wednesday helping to install smoke alarms in homes near Admiral and Harvard, after a deadly house fire happened in that area on Monday.

Firefighters think a man fell asleep while smoking on his porch.

After every deadly fire, Tulsa Fire Department holds its ‘After the Fire’ program and offers to install smoke alarms for free in the surrounding neighborhood.

“Today it is our job, our mission, to make sure everyone in this neighborhood and in Tulsa understand that a working smoke alarm is most important to save yourself from a fire,” Rodney Tisdale of the Tulsa Fire Department said.

TFD said it responds to nearly 2,000 fires every year.
