Tulsa Police say a man is in custody after they responded to a street takeover involving nearly 50 dirt bikes, ATVs, and motorcycles.

TPD was called to the area of 51st and memorial around 10 Saturday night after they heard complaints about a large group of bikers that were speeding, popping wheelies, and endangering those around them.

They say the commotion even caused a three-car crash and officers reported hearing gunshots and an explosion. Officers say Darwin Howard led them on a pursuit on his ATV that ended near East Admiral Place and Sheridan.

Howard was arrested on a complaint of eluding and several other traffic violations because he was operating an ATV on public streets. Howard also told officers the street takeover was organized through group texts and on social media and said they held the gathering because the group thought they could get away with it.

Tulsa police say they'll be increasing their presence in the area for the next several weeks.
