Business Suffers Damage After Okmulgee Glass Plant Catches Fire

The glass plant in Okmulgee caught fire on Thursday and heavily damaged the business.

The company recycles glass bottles and is mostly a concrete building with a metal roof.

The fire chief said they are still investigating what caused the fire, but a few workers who went to lunch across the street, were the first ones to see the thick, black smoke.

He said the area most heavily damaged had about $150,000 worth of product inside, but firefighters kept the fire away from a section that had $650,000 worth of inventory.

Nobody was hurt.
