Tahlequah Public Schools announced the death of one of its teachers, Theresa Horn, on Sunday.
According to the Oklahoma Source, Horn had been struggling with COVID-19 and succumbed to a heart attack this weekend.
"Losing a member of your family is never easy and in the current climate, it makes the situation even worse. We extend our sympathy to the family and our staff," said the school in an official Facebook post.
Out of respect for the teacher, the district will transition all traditional students to distance learning on Monday and Tuesday. Those students will return to in-person classes on Wednesday.
