TPS students are starting their first day of the fall semester, but that looks much different this year as the district has gone completely virtual.

Monday kicked off back-to-school week, as the district started handing out chrome books and hotspots if they were needed and making sure parents and students know how to log on to Zoom and Canvas.

Students were also able to virtually meet their teachers and pick up their instructional materials and schedules.

Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist said “this week is to ensure that students have the support they need to be successful in distance learning and create opportunities for students and teachers to connect from a safe distance.”

This virtual learning pattern will continue for the first nine weeks, but Dr. Gist has said she will make a recommendation for how the rest of the semester should go sometime next month.
