Bartlesville Cross Country held a special workout dedicated to the first responders who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.

Coach Scott Vermeire started organizing the 9/11 memorial workout last year. The cross-country team, parents and local first responders participate. It’s also open to other athletes from Bartlesville High School.

"This generation, like I said, was born after it and they need to remember it,” Vermeire said. “It was very important, it's the most important thing that's happened in our generation's time, and I definitely want to make sure that they remember it.”

The workout ended with a 2,997-meter run, representing the number of lives lost.
