New TCTA Survey Reflects Worries, Hopes Among Tulsa Teachers

The Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association has asked Tulsa Public School teachers how they feel about possibly returning to the classroom. 

President Shawna Mott-Wright said the TCTA was getting feedback and messages about virtual and in-person learning, and they wanted to send out a survey to get the opinion of teachers. 

She said 1,158 teachers responded, more than half of the teachers at the district. She said 64% are wanting to stay virtual and 36% want to return to in-person. 

"There's just a lot up in the air,” Mott-Wright said. “Those worries and concerns are reflected here.”

Mott-Wright said the distance learning has been a struggle for both parents and teachers. She said teachers miss their kids and want to go back, but some fear it's too soon.

"The anxiety is through the roof, we miss our kids so badly, but we want to make sure it's done in the right way, in the right time," she said.
