Students enrolled in Owasso Public Schools have the choice of changing their current learning method. The district is offering those currently learning in-person to switch to virtual, and those learning virtually to return to the classroom.

The principal of the student’s school site must be notified about a potential switch by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 7.

The district gave students a similar choice when they opened school buildings nearly three weeks ago, so they are not expecting a drastic shift.

Dr. Kent Wire, Owasso Public Schools Director of Instructional Services, said about 80% of students in the district are currently learning in-person. Dr. Wire said the district is pleased with the way students are following mask requirements and physical distancing guidelines.

“We’re real happy with the results so far and the cooperation we’re getting from kids,” said Dr. Wire. “If they don’t have a real strong feeling one way or the other we would hope that kids would be in school.”

You can find a running total of Owasso Public Schools’ COVID-19 status on the school's website.
