A series of fronts will move across the plains into Oklahoma this week but unfortunately, the signals for precipitation remain very low for the week and into next weekend. A robust storm system is moving across the central and northern U.S. this morning and will eject into the upper Midwest with a decaying area of rain and storms in this region. As a result of this system, a pacific cold front is sweeping across the eastern Oklahoma this morning with gusty northwest winds from 20 to 45 mph for the next few hours. A layer of warm air aloft combined with a veering of the low-level moisture ahead of the boundary will keep any mention of shower activity out of the state. By the time you read this post, the front will be moving into far southeastern OK bringing drier air across the area and highs projected to stay in the 70s for the afternoon. These strong northwest winds will also usher in a layer of dust, smoke and haze from the west across our region this morning through midday before the winds gradually diminish some by afternoon and become light tonight. A surface ridge of high pressure will quickly center-up over the region later tonight providing clear sky and light winds as temps drop into the mid to upper 40s across eastern OK and near 50 in the metro. The ridge quickly moves east as our next system prepares to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday with cooler weather but no rain. Before this 2nd front arrives, gusty southwest winds return Wednesday along with highs reaching the mid and upper 80s promoting another elevated fire danger afternoon.

Temperatures Thursday morning will drop into the upper 40s and lower 50s and may stay in the upper 60s for highs along with sunshine and pleasant fall conditions. Even cooler weather is likely Friday morning with lows in the 30s and 40s and highs nearing the upper 60s by afternoon.

The 3rd front in this week’s trio has a little controversy. Some data suggest a Sunday morning arrival while others promote a Monday appearance along with some rain or storm chances. Again, we’d love the better option for rain, but will keep the boundary nearing by Sunday and dry weather for the time.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
