A man is in jail on Friday morning after leading police on a highspeed car chase down Highway 75 on Thursday night, police say.
According to authorities, the chase began after a man driving a Chevy Malibu, with Arkansas license plates, sped past police around 11 p.m. on Thursday. The car then began southbound on Highway 75 reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
Police attempted to bring the car to a stop using a tire deflator along the highway and were able to slow down the driver before he took an exit into Jenks. The chase proceeded at a slower speed headed east on 96th Street into Jenks before the vehicle finally came to a stop.
According to police, the driver was arrested after police discovered he had a misdemeanor drug possession warrant out of Arkansas and was in possession of non-medical marijuana.
The passenger in the car, who was the driver's girlfriend and owner of the vehicle, was questioned by police and let go.
An officer helped change the blown tire on the vehicle before leaving the scene as the vehicle owner, who was from Arkansas, was stranded in Jenks with a flat tire.
Police have not yet released the name of the suspect involved in the chase.
