A new requirement to wear a mask when riding on the Tulsa Transit goes into effect on Monday.

The new rule is simplified as “No Mask, No Ride.” The new requirement comes as COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in Tulsa County.

The Tulsa Transit board voted to approve the measure last week. Officials said some riders have not been following the citywide mask mandate that has been in effect since July.

A limited supply of masks will be available to riders who do not have one.

Physical distancing will also be encouraged on busses. Drivers will also begin limiting the number of people who board and make an emphasis on sitting six feet apart.

Further plans to help safety include installation of plastic shields between drivers and passengers by 2021. On Saturday’s, busses will run every hour and Aero will run every 20 minutes.
