Tulsa Public Schools announced that pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade students will shift back to distance learning.

Officials said the move to distance learning will start on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist said the shift to distance learning will go "through the last day of classes before winter break, Friday, Dec. 18. This shift will include students in our special education programs."

Officials said that the move to distance learning includes all Tulsa Public Schools students “in level 3 and 4 special education programs and our deaf education programs.”

Officials stated that “students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades will continue in distance learning through the last day of classes before winter break” as well as middle, junior high, and high school students.

Officials said this decision was based on conversations with Tulsa Health Department Executive Director Bruce Dart.

Tulsa Public Schools will continue to provide meals for “all Tulsa children ages 18 and under.”

TPS officials said grab-and-go meals will be served at all TPS school sites on weekdays from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The Mobile Meals bus stop services will also continue, and officials stated that updated routes will be posted HERE later this week.

Dr. Gist stated that the TPS Board of Education will be holding at work-session on Monday at 4 p.m. to “discuss COVID-19 health data.”
