Two state championships and a 35-1 record on his resume, you would think collegiate football programs would be lining up to recruit Bixby quarterback Mason Williams.
Williams hopes a third straight state title will bring several Division one recruiting calls.
State titles and producing next level talent: those are hallmarks for the Bixby Spartans.
Saturday could be a storybook ending for senior Williams who has thrown for over 9,000 passing yards and a school record 110 touchdowns.
"This is the biggest one because you know after that game, I won't get play with this team or a lot of these guys anymore so it kind of hits a little bit,” Williams said.
Williams might not be your traditional quarterback sizing up at just 5'10 and under 200 pounds, but his knowledge of the game shines through his trophy case along with his playing ability on the field.
"I’m not the 6'3 guy but I would say out there, I have a bigger heart and I can match up with any of those 6'3 guys if anybody just give me a chance,” Williams said. “I think my football is probably better than a lot of people, not to be cocky anything, but just surrounding myself with pretty good coaches."
Williams will go down as one of the best quarterbacks to play for the Spartans, as he is already the school’s leader in all-time passing yards and touchdowns. For him, he wants two things: bring home his third straight state title and receive an offer to play college ball locally at the University of Tulsa.
"I think I could go play at that level, getting the third straight title I think it would really help and open coaches eyes a little bit,” Williams said. “These past few years have been the best in recruiting in Oklahoma because a lot of good guys are here."
