A chilly and frosty start this morning leads to a cool and sunny afternoon. We’ll track a few storm systems over the next 7 days, but only one will bring rain chances back to the state.
The big storm system has exited the area and we’re in great shape for the next few days. The upper air pattern will bring another system across south Texas this weekend and another strong upper trough across the Midwest into the Missouri Valley Sunday evening into Monday. We’ll be sandwiched in between these two features for the weekend with plenty of sunshine and pleasant seasonal weather. The strong upper-level low moving across north TX Saturday night into Sunday may bring a few clouds nearby and a sprinkle or two across far southern OK. But this will not have any major impacts on our weekend weather. As the strong Midwest trough dives south Monday into Tuesday, it will bring another surge of cool weather into northeastern Ok with highs staying in the lower 50s Monday with breezy and sunny weather. Our upper air pattern will remain from the north or northwest for the next few days before transitioning out of the southwest by the middle to end of next week. This means Tuesday into Thursday southwest surface winds will bring a warming trend into the state with highs reaching the lower or mid-60s. Later next week, the pattern will bring our next long wave trough across the nation and into the region with active weather Friday into next weekend.
This morning, we’ll experience patchy fog and some widespread frost with temps below freezing. Patchy freezing fog can deposit frost on elevated surfaces, such as bridges and overpasses that are shaded or located in valleys for the early morning hours. This can always be a concern but the probability of widespread freezing fog is very low. Later today, temps will reach the lower 50s with sunshine and northwest to west winds near 10 to 15 mph. Temps will quickly drop tonight into the upper 30s by 9 p.m. The weekend looks good with lows in the upper 20s and lower 30s and highs in the 50s.
Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
