Windy Friday With A Cool Weekend Ahead

Friday, December 18th 2020, 7:53 am

Temperatures continue to thaw as we wrap up the week.

Brisk south winds will be fairly strong today, with gusts of 20-30 mph expected. Skies turn partly to mostly cloudy today, but the climb in temperatures continues with highs in the mid-50s. It'll still feel quite cool with the wind and cloud cover, so keep the jacket handy!

Highs Today

Overcast and somewhat drizzly conditions will settle in overnight as our next cold front approaches. Around Tulsa, any chance for drizzle or light rain will come overnight, then quickly ending. Light to moderate showers will be possible across southeast Oklahoma into early morning Saturday. Any rain amounts are expected to be very light and not super impactful.

Temperatures will take a little dip on Saturday behind that cold front. We’ll pick up some afternoon sun Saturday with highs in the upper 40s and a northwest breeze.

But temperatures will start to quickly rebound by the end of the weekend. Sunday looks to bring more sunshine, with highs back in the 50s. And temperatures go well above normal early next week, with lower-60s on Monday and mid-60s on Tuesday.

Up-And-Down Weekend

Don’t expect the warm weather to hold for Christmas, though! Our next cold front looks to come barreling through on Wednesday with very gusty north winds. Unfortunately, it looks like another year without a White Christmas, as we don’t see any precipitation showing up for the holiday. But it’ll feel like the season with highs only in the upper 30s a possibility on Christmas Eve, and lows potentially as low as the low 20s or upper teens Christmas morning! We’ll keep you updated.
