Bartlesville Public Schools is giving some of its teachers the chance to teach from home while their kids are in the classroom.
The district said they just started the teleteaching method this semester.
Alex Rivera is teaching one of his music classes from home while a substitute teacher proctors his classroom at Bartlesville High School.
Rivera’s wife and one of his children are immunocompromised; so while he misses the physical classroom, he believes this is best for his family.
“I have to put that away, put that teacher guilt away and remind myself ‘it’s a pandemic, it’s a pandemic. It’s a global health crisis that people are not treating as a global health crisis,” Rivera said.
The district said nearly a dozen teachers have transitioned to teleteaching.
