Oral Roberts baseball is set to begin next month. Their schedule is loaded with several challenging non-conference match ups, as well as eight, four-game Summit League series.
It will be a grind for head coach Ryan Folmer and his team, but he is just glad to be able to be back out on the diamond.
"You see some light at the end of the tunnel again. We have watched what NCAA football has done and what NCAA basketball has done, and we are ready to get going and ready to get kicked off," said Folmar.
The Golden Eagles will have a full 56-game schedule that includes matchups with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and even a trip to Baton Rouge to face national power LSU which, Folmer says highlights the schedule.
“It’s going to be a tremendous challenge that’s in front of us, but I think everybody is looking forward to it especially after what they have gone through over the last eight to ten months,” Folmer said.
The roster is loaded with Sooner State talent as 15 players call Oklahoma home.
"We have made a big effort to keep as many local guys as we possibly can and as you said, we’re proud that we have that many Oklahoma guys on our roster," said Folmer.
Until the first pitch is thrown, inter-squad games and plenty of time in the batting cages will be on tap, to fine tune the team’s skillset.
"I don't think you ever get away from doing the fundamental stuff but I think it’s going to be more important this year to get out and play some more inter-squad games if you possibly can," said Folmer.
