OU Health Updates Visitation Policy For Hospitals, Clinics

OU Health said it has adjusted its visitation policies to address changing dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic related to hospitalizations.

The new visitation policies are in place at all OU Health hospitals and clinics starting Monday.

OU Health said one essential caregiver may accompany patients at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City and OU Health Medical Center in Edmond.

Caregivers will go through screenings at every entrance, they will have to wear a cloth or surgical mask and they will have to sign an agreement that they will follow the hospital's procedures.

The caregivers can only leave the patient's room for a trip to the cafeteria. And if they need to leave the hospital for any reason, they will have to put in a request with the department director. To reenter the person will have to go through all the screenings again and sign another waiver.

That policy applies to emergency room trips, same-day surgeries or visits to clinics like radiology or dialysis.

Two caregivers are allowed with patients at OU's Children's Hospital, but only one adult is allowed to escort children to OU's pediatric clinics in Tulsa and OKC, including dentistry clinics.

For labor and delivery patients, only one visitor is allowed.
