McAlester City Councilor Dies From COVID-19 Complications

A member of the McAlester City Council has died of COVID-19.

Vice Mayor James Brown passed away Tuesday from complications of the virus.

Brown served on the council throughout the 80s, 90s and early 2000s before returning in 2018. He also had a more than 40-year teaching career in McAlester Public Schools, retiring in May of 2016, only to return as a substitute and then full-time in 2019.
