In Wagoner County, the Emergency Management director said they've dealt with wreck after wreck and even their sand trucks have rolled over. One Good Samaritan is doing what he can to help those stuck because of the ice.
Most Wagoner county roads felt more like an ice-skating rink Wednesday, leaving people unable to leave their home, and many trapped in ditches.
Enter Cody Colquitt.
"I figured instead of laying on the couch being bored, I would get up and help some people," Colquitt said.
Colquitt has a big four-wheel drive truck and thought he could help people out. After posting on a Wagoner County Facebook page, the calls came flooding in.
"It's pretty rocky, everything is just a sheet of ice, there's no getting around at all," Colquitt said.
Up a treacherous icy driveway, John Lauderdale said he got stuck.
'"I made it halfway up before I got stuck," Lauderdale said.
Colquitt returned with his UTV to get John's truck back up to the home.
"We'll tie my side by side to your tree," Colquitt said to Lauderdale.
Along with getting several cars out of ditches using his ropes and truck, he also hand-delivered prescriptions to elderly people, and gave rides to town for people in need.
He gave his friend Morgan Stafford a ride to Walmart to get food for the week.
"It was bad on the roads," Stafford said. "I'm grateful and I'm sure everybody else is."
Colquitt said as long as there's a need, he's ready to brave the ice.
"The more people you can help the better," Colquitt said. "If everybody helps, everybody we wouldn't have the problems we have in the world."
Colquitt helped all day Wednesday and plans to help through the week.
The emergency management director said you should stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary to make room for emergency vehicles.
