Thursday is February 11, or 211 Day, and the 211 helpline will hold a special virtual event to talk about the surge in calls they are getting due to the pandemic and the vaccine rollout.
211 Eastern Oklahoma said it is seeing an 800% increase in calls right now compared to its previous peak at the start of the pandemic.
211 said 40% of their current calls are related to COVID-19 questions. The call center has hired new leadership and extra people to answer the phones to meet demand. They have more than a thousand agencies in their database to refer callers who need help.
If you need help with issues like finding COVID-19 testing sites, utility assistance, or health care, you can dial 211 24 hours a day to speak with a representative.
211 will hold a virtual event from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. You can attend for free, but registration is required.
