The City of Tulsa says its crews are working on dozens of waterline breaks right now.
Mayor G.T. Bynum says crews have been dealing with an average of 20 waterline breaks at any one time. The city says they've gotten another 50 calls about waterpipes that are frozen since this brutally cold weather has started.
To prevent a break or frozen pipes allow faucets to drip and open up cabinet doors so they're exposed to heat. Mayor Bynum complimented the crews working to fix the breaks but also offers a heads up because temperatures are too cold to pour asphalt on roads where a break is fixed.
"If you're driving around and you see those orange barrels up around a site make sure to avoid it even if you can't see what's inside the barrels because it may very well be a hole in the street where a water line's been worked on," said Mayor Bynum.
The city does have a number you can call to report water breaks - it's 918-596-9488.
