Bitter Cold, Snow Continue For Northeastern Oklahoma

Bitter cold temperatures and another round of snow is on the way for northeastern Oklahoma.

Bitter cold temperatures and another round of snow has arrived in northeastern Oklahoma. Areas across Green Country will see more of the fluffy, dry snow Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

Cold temperatures will continue to linger through the rest of the week.

Power Outages

Corporation Commission Tells Utilities To Prioritize Power To Homes Over Businesses

Oklahoma continues to face a power emergency as the below-freezing temperatures and ice and snow have put strain on the power grids. Oklahoma's Corporation Commission (OCC) voted 2-1 Tuesday night to pass an order asking utilities and power companies in Oklahoma to prioritize health and safety over businesses when making decisions about diverting power.

The SPP has moved Oklahoma back into Emergency Energy Alert Level 2, one level closer to the possibility of rolling blackouts again. You can find more information about power outages in the area here.


Water Main Breaks

As of 9:10 p.m., the City of Tulsa is working on 120 water main breaks due to the record-breaking temperatures across the area. They have 35 crews in the field working to address the breaks. The City also said that due to the large number of breaks, they will not be able to provide updates on the repair timelines. You can find a list of all active breaks in the city here.

Tulsa

Snow is falling fast and sticking on Tulsa roads Tuesday night. News On 6's Kristen Weaver has an update on the roads in the Tulsa area.

Bartlesville

Bartlesville road crews had roadways clear Tuesday afternoon, but the second round of snowfall has those roads already covered again. News On 6’s Reagan Ledbetter has the latest.

Claremore

Snow is falling heavily and already building up quickly on the roadways in Claremore. News On 6’s Grant Stephens has the latest on the conditions.

McAlester

Snow has started to fall in McAlester, and road crews have cleared the roads and parking lots just in time for the second round. News On 6’s Sawyer Buccy has the latest look at road conditions.

Muskogee

Snow has arrived in Muskogee and the steady snowfall is starting to impact roads. News On 6's Jordan Tidwell is watching conditions there.


Bursting Pipes

Freezing and near-zero temperatures can cause major issues for pipes. Officials say you can leave your faucet dripping or open cabinets to help give warmth to the pipes. The Buffalo Wild Wings in Claremore had their pipes burst Tuesday.
