This truck holds 5,000 gallons of water it’s just one of several trucks going back and forth from Krebs to the hospital in McAlester.

Crews say they continued doing this throughout the day on Thursday and Friday. This community has had to come together in huge ways to push through this. Families are beyond exhausted right now so are emergency crews who are running on zero sleep. The city has hired contractors to fix dozens of other water line breaks around town while their crews spend their resources searching for the big break. The Mayor says they started noticing an issue on Wednesday afternoon because water tanks start drawing down. At one point he says, they were losing 1,000 gallons of water a minute. The city has employees working around the clock trying to find this line break they are asking people to make sure their faucets are turned off, not dripping- they are trying to build pressure in the system to help them find the water line break.

Firefighters have teamed up with McAlester Regional Hospital- they have been using tanks to bring water in from Krebs, they hook it up to a tub outside of the hospital, filter it so they can make sure the hospital has clean water.

“We need everyone to continue conservation and not start using water once they wake up. As we hoped, water levels have made gains in the towers over night. Contractors and crews were able to finish 9 repairs yesterday and are out to more today. Water pumping from the plant has remained steady. We appreciate your support and will keep you updated as the situation evolves today,” said Mayor John Browne on Saturday
