If you lost water service, the Department of Environmental Quality recommends boiling your drinking water as a precaution when your water comes back on.

They say you should let that water run for a few minutes to flush it out. Then, boil it for at least a minute before drinking, cooking or bathing with it.

They say you should keep doing that for 72 hours after service resumes or until your water systems says water is safe to drink again.
