Rogers County Prepares To Distribute COVID-19 Vaccine To Teachers

Some teachers in Rogers County are preparing to get vaccinated, as the state health department hopes to get the vaccine to all teachers across Oklahoma by spring break.

More than 200 Claremore Public School teachers will get the vaccine on site Friday morning. They’ll be joined by teachers from two other districts in Rogers County.

The Rogers County Health Department is preparing for a big day of appointments for Claremore, Verdigris and Justus-Tiawah Public Schools. They say they’ll be able to administer about 1,000 vaccines to teachers and other people in Phase Two of the Vaccine Distribution on Friday.

Claremore Public Schools Superintendent Bryan Frazier said health department staff were really impressed when they saw the size of their gym. He said they’re even looking to use it again in the future if it means more people in Rogers County can get vaccinated.

Frazier said he’s so incredibly proud of his staff and excited for Friday.

“We’re really excited that we are going to be able to do about 250 staff, employees at a time and then three weeks later get that vaccine done before spring break,” said Superintendent Bryan Frazier.

Rogers County is part of district four which includes Wagoner, Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Ottawa, Washington and Nowata Counties.

All of those counties are working with their local schools to get teachers vaccinated by spring break.
