Police Investigating After Remains Found Behind Tulsa Elementary School

Tulsa police are investigating after human remains were discovered behind a Union school near 31st and Garnett.

Police said the remains were located between a fence out on school property and the creek behind it, and now Tulsa police believe this could be the body of a missing woman.

Officers said they got the call at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday that a body had been found in the brush line behind Ellen Ochoa Elementary School.

Tulsa Police said the identity of the person whose body was found is still unknown.

TPD officials said they were unable to find any form of identification at the scene. However, Police said they were able to locate items nearby that suggest the individual may have been homeless.

"They have a procedure they take from tips or missing persons or things that can go down the list and try to identify. Our investigators are so good here in the detective division that I'm sure they have a pretty good idea where they are going with this," Tulsa Police officer Danny Bean said.

The cause of death is unknown at this time, and investigators estimate that the body may have been out there for as much as two months before being discovered.
