Starting Monday a construction project will change the traffic patterns for a section of 41st St. between Harvard and Lewis.

The mile stretch of road will go down to only one lane in each direction and all parking in front of Edison High School on 41st will be prohibited during this project.

The project was supposed to begin last week but was delayed.

This street rehabilitation is bringing new sidewalks, updated water and sewer lines underground, new traffic lights, and a new bus lane in front of Edison High School.

They will be starting on the Harvard side Monday and will close the eastbound lanes to divert them into the westbound lanes to keep two-way traffic through the whole project. Eventually, that will flip when they need to work on the other side.

Tulsa’s Arterial Road Construction Manager Elliott Stiles says these kinds of updates are necessary to keep the roads maintained over the long run.

“This keeps the life cycle costs manageable over the long duration so we don’t end up with large reconstruction costs piling upon us,” Stiles said.

Stiles tells us the project is expected to wrap up in April 2022 if all goes as planned.
