Based on the Tulsa Health Department’s COVID-19 Zip Code Map, there are no more red zones in Tulsa County.
The Tulsa Health Department said the COVID-19 zip code risk map has worked well since its creation last fall. They say lack of red zones is a good sign that Tulsa County is getting close to the end.
"Got the one and done, I got the Johnson and Johnson,” Tulsa resident Sam Flowers said.
After getting his vaccination, and COVID-19 cases dropping in Tulsa County, Flowers believes downtown is getting back to the way it was.
For several weeks, the Tulsa Health Department's COVID-19 zip code map has had no red or dark red zones, which showed severe risk or extreme severe risk. As of Thursday, nine zip codes are green, 31 are yellow, and two are orange.
"To see that we had to go through multiple areas of red, not to have any red is amazing," Dr. Bruce Dart said.
So far in Tulsa County, there have been 300,000 vaccine doses administered, and about 100,000 of those were given out by the Tulsa Health Department, which is the most by any local health department in Oklahoma.
Dr. Dart said testing has dropped dramatically due to low demand, so he said they are putting most of their resources in getting the vaccine out. He believes we're better, but we're not there yet.
