The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft will take place on Thursday night in Cleveland, Ohio. Players from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa are among those waiting to have their names called.
Former Golden Hurricane and Hominy native Zaven Collins is one of the top defensive prospects in the draft. Some mock drafts indicate he could land with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns or the Tennessee Titans.
A watch party for Collins is scheduled to take place at Hominy High School’s football field at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Former Oklahoma starting offensive lineman and Shawnee native Creed Humphrey is another prospect who could be drafted in the first round. Some mock drafts have teammate Ronnie Perkins a prospect who could go in the early rounds.
For the Cowboys, offensive lineman Teven Jenkins is looked at as one of the better prospects. Offensive stars Chuba Hubbard and Tylan Wallace are likely to have their names called eventually.
The draft starts at 7 p.m. when the Jacksonville Jaguars go on the clock. The last round of the draft will take place on Saturday.
