Curbside trash and recycling pickup will temporarily start at 5 a.m. for Tulsa customers. The change took effect Monday, May 10.
A fire at one of Tulsa's recycling plants in early April caused the city to change pickup times from 6 a.m. to 5 a.m. The city said the time change is temporary, but it could last until the end of this year. That is because repairs on the damaged plant are expected to last seven months and cost around $7 million.
Once the plant is back up and running, the city said pickup times for curbside trash and recycling will go back to the regular 6 a.m.time. In the meantime, the city will not be able to recycle most, if any, materials. Instead, customers will have to take their recyclable items to the Met Recycling Center. The M.e.t. has three locations in Tulsa and one in Broken Arrow.
