The Remember and Rise event tickets launched at midnight Friday but as of 12:30 a.m., the site was showing that there were no tickets available. The event is the main program in a long list of plans commemorating the centennial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission website says the 3,500 tickets available to the public were reserved in 27 minutes.
2,500 seats were already reserved for descendants, North Tulsa organizations, businesses, churches, community members, Commissioners, and sponsors before the additional 3,500 tickets went on sale, the Commission said.
Several people have told News On 6 that they were able to get their tickets when they first went on sale at midnight, however it seems that was not the case for very long.
Remember and Rise is already in the national spotlight and drawing in massive interest after announcing that names such as John Legend will be performing and featured keynote speakers include Stacy Abrams.
The doors at ONEOK Field open at noon on May 31 and the main program is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a candlelight vigil following immediately after. The event is free but a ticket is required for admission.
If you are not able to get a ticket, you can watch our full coverage of the Remember and Rise event along with all other Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial events here on News On 6.
