Senator Lankford has stepped away from his role on the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission.

"I am no longer on the Tulsa Race Massacre Commission; I've stepped away from that and my role was largely ceremonial," Sen. Lankford said. "I've stepped away from it because it really shifted to be more of a political event."

Lankford's action to step away from the Tulsa Race Massacre Commission was not related to the cancellation of the Rise & Remember event that was to take place on Monday.

Sen. Lankford also stated that he will take part in some of the weekend events commemorating the Race Massacre.

"I'll still be a part of reconciliation events after this weekend as well," Lankford stated.
