Tulsa police officers have had an eventful Sunday, investigating four separate shootings in the span of just a few hours. Two of the shootings were deadly.
Police said it is still trying to piece together how each shooting happened.
The first happened just after midnight Sunday near Pine and MLK.
"There was one car on scene when we arrived that collided with a pole," Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Ashley Kite said.
Kite said people in two cars had been shooting at each other down the road. Inside the crashed car, police found the passenger dead and the driver seriously hurt. The suspect drove off.
"We have evidence there was a gun battle involved," Kite said.
Police officers were called to an apartment complex around 1:15 a.m. near 51st and Yale for another shooting. Authorities said a man shot his friend in the stomach and ran off.
"He was walking around the complex with a friend, they were seen all day together," TPD Sgt. Emily Michie said.
Michie said the victim was talking to officers before he was transported to a hospital. Investigators are still looking for the suspected shooter.
Around 7:30 a.m., police said an off-duty officer spotted a man in his 30s dead in the street near 31st and Harvard.
"We discovered numerous shell casings," TPD Lt. Glenn Uhren.
Investigators said a man was walking down the road when a car pulled up and someone shot the man in the head before driving off.
Officers said they found more than a dozen shell casings and are looking at surveillance video from nearby businesses.
"It's tough, but it's going to be terribly tragic for at least one family," Uhren said. "It's heartbreaking."
A fourth shooting near 1st and Elgin early Sunday morning, as well.
Police said around 1 a.m., there was a crowd outside some bars and officers found one man had been shot in the leg. The victim is expected to survive.
