Amazing Oklahoman: Veteran Joshua Starks Honored By Rep. Hern

Congressman Kevin Hern honored a local Army veteran who has done so much for other veterans in northeast Oklahoma.

Joshua Starks was recognized as the Congressional Veteran of the Month.

He is the vice commander of Tulsa’s VFW Post. Starks also organizes the annual Veteran’s Day parade and the Field of Heroes display at Centennial Park every Memorial Day.

“Even though I'm receiving the award, there's so many people that have been there at the end of a phone or showed up to volunteer and make sure that all the things we do went off without a hitch,” Starks said.

“It’s truly amazing,” Hern said. “It’s such an honor to know people like Josh Starks.”
