Road work on Highway 88 between Oologah and Claremore is causing delays for some drivers in Rogers County.

ODOT says the $1.6 million project includes resurfacing and some shoulder improvements for a section of North Highway 88 between Claremore and Oologah. Crews in Claremore are currently working on one part of this project right by the Will Rogers Memorial. Closer up to Oologah, crews are working on the stretch of highway that goes over the Oologah Lake Dam where there is a temporary traffic light.

ODOT says some drivers have been ignoring that light, driving through when it's not their turn, which is a serious hazard for both drivers and construction crews.

Even though delays are expected, ODOT is urging folks to obey those temporary traffic lights.

The work is expected to last through early September.
