A well-known and well-loved Claremore man recently passed away with COVID-19. His family said they knew he had a servant's heart but didn't realize just how many lives he touched.

Morgan Dowell's kids said their dad knew everybody in town, and everyone loved him. They said he was fully vaccinated but had underlying health issues and died after getting COVID-19 a few weeks ago.

Lindsay and Josh Dowell describe their dad Morgan as the kind of guy who always knew how to help and spent his life giving to others.

"He would do everything he could to help anyone around him who needed something," Lindsay said.

"He always had a way of volunteering us," Josh said.

Lindsay said Morgan owned a barbeque joint, then a food truck and was also an electrical contractor. They said he gave to others through jobs as well as volunteering and helping his church.

"He had a gift for making people feel better," Lindsay said.

Lindsay said Morgan got stopped everywhere in town by people wanting to talk to him. She said after his passing, a lot of people told her stories of how her dad had made a difference in their life.

"Growing up here, there were no strangers," she said.

Morgan was fully vaccinated but got COVID-10 a few weeks ago. His family said his heart was weak and he couldn't fight the virus. He died after 10 days in the hospital.

Lindsay said she still urges everyone to get the shot.

"He had a lot of underlying issues, that's the thing," she said.

She said her dad lives on through all those stories, and memories, and said his life is proof you can make a difference every single day.

"Do what you can with what you have as a person in your community," Lindsay said. "We see now how many people that touched."

Morgan leaves behind a wife of 43 years, three children and three grandchildren.
