Washington County Kids, Law Enforcement Team Up For ‘Calm The Storm’ Retreat

The kids participated in horse training, archery, knot-typing and fishing to develop focus and patience, alongside Washington County law enforcement officials.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Oklahoma -

This weekend, some kids in Washington County teamed up with law enforcement for the “Calm the Storm” retreat.

The Washington County Community Council shared pictures with News On 6. The kids participated in horse training, archery, knot-typing and fishing to develop focus and patience.

Organizers said it’s essential for each person to find the ability within themselves to calm the inner storm of low self-esteem, impatience and self-doubt.

They said the kids made lasting friendships with some of the police officers and deputies.
