The BOK Center is ready to rock Friday night for its first concert in 17 months.
Alan Jackson is bringing his tour to Tulsa after rescheduling the show three times due to the pandemic.
The COVID-19 shutdown had a huge impact on live music and while the BOK has been hosting events for a while now, Friday night’s concert is the first concert in the venue since March of 2020.
The BOK Center has been getting everyone hyped on social media with a video and post that said, “Tulsa, it wasn’t the same without you. It’s been a long 17 months without live music. We can’t wait to #rocktheBOK again with you, safely.”
It is putting an emphasis on safety. BOK Center leaders said they have spent the past year and a half working to strengthen health and safety standards.
They say they’ve implemented an advanced environmental hygiene and operational protocol called "VenueShield," which will reduce physical touchpoints and increase sanitation and cleanliness.
Crews recently installed a new air filtration system that produces Ultraviolet light to better kill germs. They have also installed plexiglass at concession stands.
Masks are recommended, as well as social distancing when possible.
The BOK Center said fans will find hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility and workers will treat high-touch point areas throughout the night, like doors and elevator buttons.
Alan Jackson’s concert starts at 7 p.m. Friday night.
